Quality Control:

Unfortunately, almost every card had a creased corner. Interestingly enough, it was primarily the upper right corner for cards 1-100 with the cards numbered 100-300 primarily in the bottom left corner. Putting those as a whole aside, there were these other manufacturing defects noted from this hobby box of 2008/09 NHL Upper Deck MVP:

13 bent corners
3 with dents
2 with crease lines
1 pack wrapper crinkled edge

75% or more of this box was damaged with 9% notably damaged.

Based on the stated odds of Rookie Cards per box, we should have gotten 12 RC’s in this box but only pulled 11 with no Rookie Redemption. We did however receive the average of one 2on2 Jersey Card.

Duplicates base: 31
Duplicate inserts: 1
Duplicates Total: 32 of 192 or 16.7%

Set Completion: 150 of 380 or 39.5%

Box Hits: 12 of 13 or 92.3%

Based on the damaged cards, one less Rookie Card then the stated odds and amount of duplicate cards, this particular box of 2008/09 NHL Upper Deck MVP Hobby didn’t get a passing grade.

Final Grade: 60.0% for a letter grade of D

    3 “decoy” cards for 15%, 25%, or 50% off UpperDeckStore.com
5 thick “decoy” cards (the kind they stuff in to fool pack feelers

I had no duplicates in the box which was great! I averaged one Gold Medallion Parallel card per pack, an Ultra Uniformity Memoribilia Card, 6 Rookie Cards, and 3 Gold Medallion Rookie Cards. Overall, not a bad box.

The #236 Rookie Redemption card was submitted on December 1, 2007. The status updated on December 2, 2007 to: Item in process of shipping along with other projects, expect within 14 days. I submitted 3 other redemption cards the same day whose status have not yet changed. I submitted one last year for a Jordan Staal Rookie Card which I received quite quickly. I hope this (and the others) come as quickly as my Staal RC did!

What do you think of this box break of 2006-07 Upper Deck Fleer Ultra Hockey Cards? Do you like the set? Have you had any great pulls you would like to share?
