Noticed in the flier that hockey card blaster boxes were going on sale for $14.99. Went yesterday and picked up:

4 boxes of 2008/09 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey
4 boxes of 2008/09 Upper Deck Series One Hockey
4 boxes of 2008/09 Upper Deck MVP Hockey
2 boxes of 2008/09 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey

I wasn't sure which boxes were on sale because it just listed "blaster boxes" with a photo of the Black Diamond. I might have to go back and buy some more after what I busted last night!

I have always been a fan of blaster boxes. I have been going to write a blog post about it. I don't get why people blast them - especially when you can get them discounted at retail stores. I picked up a bunch of Legends Masterpieces at Walmart one time for $5 a box.

Good Blaster Boxes:
Series I & II
Black Diamond
Fleer Ultra
Legends Masterpieces
Champs
MVP

Bad Blaster Boxes:
Artifacts
Fleer Hot Prospects

The reason I say "Bad" is because I have gotten almost nothing but base cards in them. I usually buy at least 4 boxes at a time. There were a bunch of Artifacts blaster boxes for $5 at Walmart but I passed on them since I have mostly ever gotten base and its such a small base set. The "Bad" blaster boxes I think would be good if you need to finish off a set like you said.

I have pulled many great Young Guns out of Blaster Boxes. Probably the best were my Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin RC's. I also got a Carey Price and Nicklas Backstrom in one box. I find the Series I and Series II usually more then pay for themselves. I pulled a ton of great Rookies up to and including Quad Diamond the first year they had the Black Diamond blaster boxes.
